Javier Rendon

La Gota founder, circus teacher and director

I found circus at 13 and it changed my life forever, circus became my pillar. Growing up in Medellin, Colombia I auditioned for Colombia’s National Circus School Circo Para Todos, not only securing one of the highly coveted spots, but additionally winning the scholarship program. I spent the subsequent four years dedicating every ounce of energy I had into all things circus, and I mean everything, every class, guest lecturer, street performance I could squeeze in I was there. Circus is my ultimate passion, along the way I found my missing within circus, that is to share this art from with the world. This mission came to fulfillment on January 11, 2021 where the doors to La Gota Circus School officially opened in Goa, India. Over the years we have gathered teachers from all over the world to share the creative and physical practice of modern circus, breaking stereotypes and promoting inclusively and diversity along the way.

Seeing La Gota Company, from entertainment and costume design, to traveling circus and school come to fruition is my ultimate dream, thank you for your interest in Modern Circus, and you trust in la Gota, welcome to the family.

Fernanda Quintero

Dance, acrobatics, aerials, hair hanging, hula hoop

A multidisciplinary artist with a passion for blending various forms of expression, from dance and aerials to singing, juggling, and theater. I’ve been immersed in the arts since I was seven, and over the years, I’ve developed a unique style that uses dance as the foundation for integrating these diverse disciplines.

In addition to my artistic work, I’ve explored chiromassage, which I incorporate into my practice to deepen my understanding of the human body in motion. This holistic approach enhances both my personal artistry and my teaching methods.

I’m excited to bring my experience to the La Gota Fall Intensive, where I’ll be leading dance and aerial workshops. At La Gota Circus School, I’ve been involved in the educational program and also contribute to the school’s advertising design. My goal is to inspire others to explore their creative potential and push the boundaries of their physical expression.

Alfonso "Alf" Orozco

Acrobatics, parkour, functional training

Hello all, I’m Alfonso “Alf” Orozco, originally from Colombia-Venezuela, and I’ve dedicated my life to the study and practice of acrobatic movement. My journey began in the wilds of Caracas, where I was inspired by my father, a semi-professional gymnast. I started gymnastics at age 9, and my passion for movement has since expanded into various sports, eventually leading me to discover Parkour at 15—a discovery that completely transformed my approach to physical activity.

In my classes, I focus on building a strong foundation in acrobatics while exploring its connections to other movement disciplines. I believe in a dynamic and immersive teaching style, where we dive into the basics, from acrobatic skills to advanced techniques, all while emphasizing safety, proprioception, and the pure joy of movement.

In 2012, I founded DesplazArte®, an educational project aimed at promoting acrobatics as a healthy lifestyle. I also developed “The Monkey Path,” a creative and cooperative approach to training. Today, I teach at Momentum Acro in Warsaw, Poland, and at La Gota Circus School in Goa, India, while continuing to explore new ways to share my passion for movement as an educator and stuntman.

Anna Kawiak

ex sport acrobat, acrobatics, hand balancer, contortionist, aerialist

My acrobatics adventure started when I was 4 year old, I took it after my mother and started trainings with one of trainers in her acrobatics club. 13 years in sport acrobatics gave me Competition Awards, skill base and body preparation, but the next 7 years in circus community showed me how many things I wish to know earlier instead of pushing my body to the limits without understanding needs and processes that were happening which bring me many problems.

In 2018 I became teacher with goal to not only make students succeed in high level tricks and competitions but also teach them how to understand the movement and respect their body and its needs in order to prevent injuries but also keep the pleasure of developing their abilities and increasing their level in safest way.

I’m teaching with pleasure, I’m sharing the way of training that I wish to know earlier. On first week of my intensive workshops I’ll introduce you to the sport acrobatics world, all participants will have chance to learn or refresh, and feel the rhythm of sport acrobatics trainings, this will be the time to meet various types of elements to finally find the thing that you want to develop or specific element to learn.

Rachel Graver

Yoga, flexibility, wellness psychology

The desire to better myself as a whole led me to yoga in my early 20s, which subsequently revealed how disorganized and unbalanced my mental was, hence my journey into meditation. The culmination of these two eventually led me to realize the importance of integrating diverse body movement, and how beneficial a multidisciplinary physical and mental practice is to my human, this is what I wish to share in my classes.

My background is a bit different in that it exists in both an academic classroom and in somatic physical practice. Academia led me to study in New Delhi where the aura of India changed the trajectory of my research, and subsequently my life, adding years of yoga, meditation and movement studies to my resume. My research is in human happiness, taking influence from both eastern and western wellness practices. I care about teaching physical and mental wellness in a sustainable way that aligns with our natural instincts as humans, this means a deep dive into the way our brains and bodies are connected. I find that the deeper your cognitive understanding of the physical movements we are practicing, the deeper impact it has on your health and ultimately promotes the longevity of wellbeing.

I’m so excited to move, bend and deepen our mind body connection together.
