La Gota, meaning “The Drop” in Spanish, symbolizes the ripple effect of small actions. Founder Javier Rendon was inspired by a raindrop landing on his notebook while searching for the perfect name. Today, La Gota creates positive change, one drop at a time, with its name reminding us of the power of small actions to make a big impact.
Javier’s journey began at the age of thirteen when he witnessed a juggler practicing in a park which ignited a passion within him. He earned a scholarship in the prestigious Columbian National School of Circus, where he honed his skills in acrobatics, juggling, and unicycle riding. After graduation, he continued to expand his expertise by mastering show direction, rap music, and various other circus techniques.
In 2012 Javier took his circus skills to the business realm, opening La Gota Circo in his hometown of Medijjin Colombia where it grew to be a national and trans-national success. In 2016 Javier and La Gota Circo moved their talents to Dubai, UAE where the La Gota Entertainment company is still based.
La Gota Circus School in India stems from a dream closest to Javier’s heart, spreading the art of modern circus as a tool for mind body wellness. The school runs on the mission of bringing people together who respect the teacher student relationship, aways willing to learn knowing that will only better themselves as teachers, driven by their individual passion for knowledge production.
Over the years we have honed our skills and expanded our team to include some of the modern circus industries best, hosting countless workshops, classes, performances and more, we have made a lasting impact on the movement community in Goa and the circus community at large. Perhaps what makes modern circus, and La Gota Circus School, so unique is the innate level of diversity and inclusivity. There is a space for everyone in Modern Circus and La Gota alike.
